Power the Future of Genetic Counseling

With more than 20 years of history to its name, UNCG’s Genetic Counseling is the first and longest-standing program in the state of North Carolina. Since 2000, more than 150 graduates have earned their master’s, joined this cutting-edge field, and changed lives across the country.

And while our alumni have gone on to be leaders in the field of Genetic Counseling, the challenges faced while they are still graduate students can take student focus away from what matters most: their studies.

During the course of their two-year studies, students can face any number of obstacles:

  • Unpredictable funding for tuition gaps
  • Professional wardrobe requirements
  • Statewide placement travel expenses
  • Travel and registration for national conventions critical to career success
  • Application fees and other costs not covered by scholarships

You can help break down those barriers to entry and support student success funding during this limited-time crowdfunding effort!

Philanthropic support is also key to developing a more diverse workforce. Genetic counseling has historically been dominated by White (89%) women (93%), many of whom share similar religious affiliations, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientation, language, and more. [SOURCE]

Diverse providers are best suited to serve populations of all kinds, and we all benefit from having many different perspectives in the field.

You can support this campaign at any level you like, or you can help fund specific needs for current and future students by using any of the Levels options you see to the right.

With a gift of any amount, you can help both present and future Genetic Counseling students achieve, persevere, and thrive.
