Thanks to supporters like you, the Spartan DRIVE Fund has raised over $2,700 so far to help reduce the University’s carbon footprint in our fight against climate change. We are now thrilled to announce that the Earthshot Foundation has offered a matching donation of $5,000!
A nonpartisan nonprofit, the Earthshot Foundation’s mission is to accelerate global awareness of climate change and transition toward a more sustainable planet. If we complete 100% of their match, it will bring us to well beyond our goal of $10,000.
The Spartan DRIVE Fund has been making big news with coverage from WFDD (our local NPR affiliate) and NC Health News — and we do not intend to stop there. Remember, 10% of funds raised will be used to help weatherize homes and lower utility bills for Guilford County homeowners who live below the poverty line, thanks to the help of our partner, Community Housing Solutions.
According to the Healthy North Carolina 2030 Report, “Housing quality is an important determinant of overall health and well-being. Studies show that there is a direct link between housing quality and physical and mental health. In North Carolina, 1 in 6 households across the state face severe housing problems.”
